Christmas & Car Trouble →
Crazy last few days. I spent the day of the 24th snowboarding in Park City. It was a perfect day, with great conditions. Christmas eve was spent with the lovely marnii77, the Coleman clan and friends at the home of the gracious Janet & Martha. I love those two. I have never seen such a spread in all my life, and everything was tasty goodness. Christmas day started early, given the...
Finally got around to watching Doctor Who X-mas Special after dealing with muffler-gate. Kylie! New theme! Disaster movie fun. Grade: B
Stuck in Park City because the muffler fell off my car. There are worse things I suppose.
Getting drunk in Park City after a thoroughly enjoyable day of Snowboarding.
What was I thinking? →
Stupid me. I decided that 2 days before Christmas would be an acceptable time to go to Wally World and pick up a few things. The store was mobbed. Mobbed! Aisles were blocked with carts, kids were screaming, people were lugging around oxygen tanks in their ridearound carts. Craziness abounds at the Wally World. It was all I could take to get my cat litter and trash bags and get out of there as...
@solysombra: I’m in! Save Crystal!
Rock Band - Finally! →
So raedances, Justin & his girlfriend and I headed over to starshadow78’s house tonight, braving a pretty serious snowfall, for one purpose: ROCK BAND! I popped my Rock Band cherry, trying out the guitar, bass, drums and singing tonight. The drums are HARD, y’all! It took me a while to get the timing down on them, but I think with a little practice, I could get better at it. ...
Daily Show back in Jan. - Um, yay? →
Apparently, the Daily Show & Colbert Report will be back in January, sans writers if the strike is still going. I am not sure how I feel about this, since both of those shows are successful in large part due to the clever writers behind the scenes. If this means that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will have to write EVERYTHING, that’s a tough gig. Maybe they’ll do longer...

Them Spears’s keep the tabloid industry in business for sure.
@raedances: Oh, yes. There will be payback. Don’t you worry. Mr. Wiggles will get what is coming…

Dexter & Extras Finales →
Last night’s TV featured a doubleheader of finales: The Season 2 finale of Dexter and the Series finale of Extras. I liked both shows, and after a bit of time to ponder life, the universe and the outcomes to Andy’s and Dexter’s world, I have come to the conclusion that they are pretty darn similar. It was interesting watching both episodes on the same night. Each show had...
@raedances: Good thing you aren’t applying to divinity school or seminary. Wiggles wouldn’t like your tone!
Foiled by my own klutziness. →
I fell hard the other day due to a nasty patch of ice in front of my office. My knee is now shredded and hurts like the dickens. I could barely sleep last night, due to constantly leaning on the wound, which would wake me up in pain. The upshot of all this is that my injury is likely going to prevent me from snowboarding this weekend. This sucks. It sucks royally. I have only gotten 1 day of...
Golden Globe Nominations: The To Do List →
The Golden Globe award nominations came out this morning, and there were tons of extra nominations in a whole slew of categories. I’m a bit perplexed about the whole thing, but the HFPA tends to reward new TV shows, traditional films, and British actors in period pieces. They stuck to their usual patterns this year, for sure. I’m not going to go through the nominees and analyze or...
I’m officially a mess. Almost falling, actually falling, spilling coffee all over desk. What’s next?

Strange Cat News of the Day: Glow in the Dark... →
South Korean scientists cloned cats that glow in the dark when exposed to UV beams. Really.
Note to self: Dont slip on ice outside the office. Falling hurts and gets pants bloody.
It's a good day in Flyers land. →
Last night, the Flyers pounded the Penguins 8-2 with not one, but TWO hat tricks (Joffrey Lupul & R.J. Umberger). The game was scrappy, with lots of scuffles and a whole host of penalties. Pure Flyers fun! In other news, former Flyers goalie Ron Hextall will be the latest alumni to be added to the Flyers Hall of Fame. I adored Hextall when he played for the Flyers. He changed the way...

Spice Girls Las Vegas: The Recap →
Back from Vegas, and oh, yeah. The Spice Girls totally delivered on all fronts. People, music and spectacle abound my friends.
Me and my pal marnii77 hit Vegas for the Spice Girls show, and it was just magnificent. The Girls put on two shows, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. We had tickets for the Sunday show, which initially I was bummed about, but it turned out to be quite...
Puppet jesus for sale at Fillmore gas station. Sold! says Marnii.
Spice Girls snap judgement: They’ve still got it!
Breaking News: Now Becks is in the suite too! Fan girls go apeshit!
Breaking news: TomKat is in the suite behind our seats.
So tell me what you want, what you really really want!
Marnii and rachel have arrived in vegas!
@raedances: Oh the humanity!

One Step Closer to Series 7 and other stuff. →
Run for your life, kids! On TV! This new show is just one notch away from one of my favorite movie satires, Series 7: The Contenders. Oh, SciFi Channel! Only 3 days until the joy that is the Spice Girls concert in Vegas. I am so excited. It’s gonna be fantastic. Also filling me with glee? We’re staying at the Luxor, which has an awesome arcade. I am sucker for good pinball. And...
@kpsmith: Not as elusive as the money needed to buy them! No XBox360 or Rock Band for me.
Just got my hulu.com beta login. It’s awesome. I am SO gonna watch old episodes of St. Elsewhere & Arrested Development!
Happy Chanukah! →
Happy Chanukah! My mom sent me a whole slew of decorations last year that were late in arriving, and sadly they went unused. I saved them in my desk drawer, though, and pulled them out yesterday. I must admit, my cubicle looks quite festive, indeed! I’ve got chanukah lights, dreidels, gelt, and these cutesy finger puppets that I stuck on top of pencils. They are taped up to the edge of...

Sad to see yet another snarky quick retort fall victim to our changing times.
Satellite receiver lost signal last night - anything I had set to record on TV2 FAILED. No Tin Man or Amazing Race for me! Dexter, safe!
Three New Things →
This past weekend, I did three new things. I most certainly did not accomplish any of the productive things I needed to get done, but had some fun regardless. Finally, it snowed enough to go snowboarding! And I hung out with friends on Saturday watching a Christmas movie & TV episode marathon. It was a good weekend overall, with these new achievements. New thing #1: I hit a box switch and...

Shut up, Wesley! →
Wil Wheaton’s recap & analysis of the ST:TNG episode “Datalore” is up on TV Squad. This ep had the origin of Picard’s infamous “Shut up, Wesley!” quote, which fans took to heart in their hatred of Wesley Crusher. Wil talks about this, and the acting of Brent Spiner in dual roles.
Snowboarding day 1: crowded but good. Legs shot. Nailed switch 50-50 on box. Yay!
Arrived home to find MASSIVE fallen branch from neighbor’s tree in my driveway exactly where my car had been. Dodged a HUGE bullet there!
@raedances: Dont you dare cheat and get ahead!
