Adding game shows to the TV lineup due to the... →
Reading this news, that there is a plan in the works to revive the Match Game, makes me giddy with glee. I love that show, and watch old reruns of the 70’s version on GSN. I adored Charles Nelson Reilly, Richard Dawson, Brett Somers and the rest of the panels from the ‘70’s. They had such a freewheeling attitude, and could get away with saying things on air that today would...

I just got caught in a bit of a caffeine induced hallucination/ daydream here at the work, and it made me think of this sketch: I swear. There is a KITH sketch for every situation!
Perhaps putting a poster of cute pro snowboarders up on my cubicle wall was not the best way to encourage my productivity.

T.O. should send some of that bonus money the fans way too for having to deal with his crap while he was in town. Grrrrr.

Superpipe Greatness →
So, say what you want about the guy, but Shaun White is just plain awesome. He gets a bronze at the Winter X Games this year WHILE RIDING A BROKEN BOARD. He had to do his second run on a new board that threw him off a bit, but still: he hit 65 foot jumps on a broken board. Then he goes and wins the Superpipe gold medal by stomping a 1260 in the snow & wind. Damn.

Sundance 2008 Finale & Other Random Thoughts →
Been spending all weekend on the slopes, so there is a bit to catch up on. Firstly, my last Sundance 2008 film was the new Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) extravaganza, Where in the World is Osama bin Laden. I was going to write up a whole big thing about it, per my other reviews, but frankly, I can’t think of much to say. In his usual cutesy funny way, Spurlock and his brave camera guy...
Awesome day on the slopes. Could not have been more perfect! Life is good.
It’s the question that haunts me every day at this time: Lunch or the gym? Whatever shall I do? Sigh.
Sundance: In the Air Tonight →
Last night’s Sundance spectacular was Adventures of Power, a quirky tale of a small town New Mexico guy, the titular Power, who works at a copper mine, but dreams of air guitar greatness. The film was written & directed by and starred Ari Gold, and was also a bit of a stinging satire on the Guitar Hero/Rock Band craze. It reminded me a bit of Napoleon Dynamite, with the motley crew of...

Sundance: Smart People live in Pittsburgh,... →
Yesterday was a mellow day. Just one screening of Smart People, a nice family/character dramedy with Dennis Quaid as the frumpy academic patriarch/widower and Sarah Jessica Parker as his former student/love interest. Also in the cast were Thomas Hayden Church as the drifter/moocher adopted brother to Quaid, and Ellen Page as the Young Republican overachieving daughter with a secret rebellious...

Sundance: Zombies in Wonderland →
Yesterday, I saw two films that could not have been more opposite, and yet in some strange way were completely alike. I’ve been trying to figure out how a heartwarming story of a little girl locked into Wonderland matches up with a Zombie flick, but it kinda works. First up was Phoebe in Wonderland, a small family drama starring creepy little Elle Fanning (sorry Elle, now that big sis...

So my Spurs pulled off an amazing upset today, beating arch-rival Arsenal 5-1 in Carling Cup competition. It was just awesome. Tottenham hadn’t defeated Arsenal since 1999, and now heads to Wembley stadium for the Cup final. There were some great goals, saves and all around action. The Spurs got an early goal, followed by an own goal soon thereafter. It was all downhill from there for...

Sundance 2008 Part Deux →
Films so far: 4 Films LIKED so far: 3 I’ve already posted about the awesomeness of U2-3D. The other three films I have seen so far are: A Complete History of My Sexual Failures This fascinating documentary has filmmaker Chris Waite confront his past girlfriends and his psyche to figure out why he is still single and how to get on with his life. It was a really well put together film,...
Sundance, U2 & a bit of redemption →
A few years ago, U2 came back to Salt Lake City for a show during their Vertigo tour. I had been wanting to see them live since I first heard “Sunday Bloody Sunday” at camp when I was a wee child. I am a U2 fan. Not a super-fan for sure, but I kinda dig their music. I also feel that while he has a knack for the melodramatic, Bono seems to be genuine in his desire to make the world...
U2 - Awesome. U2 in 3-D? Fucking phenomenal.
@wilw: More or less sick-causing than Bourne/Blair Witch? I get motion sick super easy, and need to know if I should wait for DVD.
Awards To Do List - Update! →
A ways back, I wrote an entry with a list of films to see before awards season, and I thought I’d check back in and see how I am doing so far. The answer is: not so good. A mere 3/10. And with Sundance for the next 10 days, it will be hard to catch up at all for at least another couple weeks. It’s hard enough to see two movies in one day, let alone more than that. Now, Hairspray...

Torchwood S2 E01 →
After some computer related issues, I was finally able to watch Torchwood S2 E01, “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.” My overall feeling is that it was pretty good but not great. It was definitely lighter and had some nice action, but still suffered some of the weak writing and plot hole issues that plagued Season 1. The trailer for the rest of the season looks camptastic! Should be fun and...
Finally, an answer I like! →
I know this is probably old, but I took a couple BBC America online quizzes this week (Torchwood - I am Gwen? Top Gear - I should drive a Prius?) with results I was not too pleased with. This is the first quiz result I liked in a while, and it was about Battlestar Galactica! So here it is:…

Make it Stop! →
I know I have griped about this in the past, but I am SO over U.S producers trying to re-create hit British shows for an American audience. Nine times out of ten it is just a disaster. For every The Office (which I still think the original UK version is vastly better than the American one), there is a Coupling or Viva Laughlin. Queer as Folk was ok, but not as good as the original. Apparently,...

Getting older is fun! →
I’m going to say that today was one of the best birthdays I have ever had. Last night I headed up to Park City and hung out with my snowboarding friends. It was low key, but nice. I stayed over and this morning I headed right on over to the resort. Per my previous entry, I was having this whole “which board do I ride” dilemma. Well, I decided that I just HAD to try out the...

To park or not to park? →
Tomorrow is my birthday, and I have plans to spend the weekend snowboarding. I am having a giant dilemma, in that we got lots of snow this week, so I should in theory try to ride powder and hit some tree runs. BUT, I just finally got bindings put on my brand spankin’ new park board, and am dying to try the new baby out in the terrain park. It is much lighter and poppier than my regular...

I'm officially on Torchwood overload. →
So, between the teaser trailer, the full S2 trailer(s - BBC America & BBC UK), the opening scene clip, the delicious Jack/John clip and now the new TVGuide.com clip, I am officially over saturated with spoilers for Torchwood Series 2 Episode 1. I am really looking forward to the show (premiering January 16th on BBC2 & January 26th on BBC America). I mean, who doesn’t want to see...

Getting back into the swing of things →
Now that the holidays are over, and my trip back East is done, I really need to get back into the swing of things! Perhaps just maybe if I type them and post for all the world to see, I will actually get stuff done. 1. More guitar practice - at least 3x a week. And maybe try writing a song instead of just learning someone else’s. 2. Back to the gym! 3. Clean up my yard. So much...

First Class fun for a first class guy. →
This weekend, I traveled to NJ for my grandfather’s 90th birthday celebration. It was great to be able to celebrate the awesomeness that is Grandpa/Poppy/Daddy/Lou (I think that covers everyone who was there’s names for him!). Due to my frequent trips last year for the summer of weddings, family stuff and other trips, I am now Silver level on Delta and qualify for First Class...

Apparently, there will be a J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek teaser trailer attached to the J.J. Abrams produced Cloverfield screenings. I can’t wait for Cloverfield, and adding the Trek trailer makes it even more fun. In other news, I just selected my Sundance films for ‘08 and I got all but one selection I wanted. Pretty awesome. I’m scheduled to see, amongst other things: ...
