You Can Play Athletes in the NHL Stats
Mighty impressive bunch and great for the cause.

Someone asked subtlelikeseabrook to rank the 16 NHL playoff teams in terms of who she’d most like to see win to who she’d least like to see win. This was her response:
- Chicago Blackhawks (Duh)
- Boston Bruins (Also duh)
- Nashville Predators (Because their financial future depends on it, really)
- New York Rangers (I blame 24/7 for this.)
- Florida Panthers (Even though they won’t really be ready for a deep run until a year or two from now)
- San Jose Sharks
- Philadelphia Flyers
- Phoenix Coyotes (Because God only knows where they’ll be next year)
- Los Angeles Kings (I don’t really want to see Jeff Carter rewarded for sadfacing his way out of Columbus, but I don’t hold it against the entire team.)
- New Jersey Devils
- Washington Capitals
- St. Louis Blues (They’d be lower on the list, but they’ve never won a Cup, and their fanbase doesn’t annoy me.)
- Ottawa Senators (Not because I hate the team, but because their fanbase will be even more insufferable than it is now.)
- Pittsburgh Penguins (Ditto.)
- Detroit Red Wings (Because they already have 11)
- Vancouver Canucks (BECAUSE THEY DON’T DESERVE NICE THINGS)
Here’s my list, again in order of preference, not likelihood to win the Cup:
- Flyers (Duh)
- Canucks (Also, duh.)
- St. Louis (Love their storyline this season)
- Panthers (Would be sweet to avenge the haters/ignorers)
- Nashville (They’re so much fun, but also kinda evil)
- Phoenix (for same reason as above list states)
- Senators (Loved their guys at All Star this year)
- Kings (love my ex Flyers there, but they’d have to beat Vancouver to do it so that would make me sad)
- Washington (I don’t hate Ovie and used to live in DC, so there’s that)
- Chicago (they won recently so don’t need it again so soon)
- Sharks (No comment)
- Devils (No good reason either)
- Rangers (Henrik is their only bright spot for me. And Torts when he’s funny and not ragging on Philly)
- Boston (They just won, and suck it Timmy.)
- Pens (Evil, just evil. Except for Malkin when he’s brilliant. That’s amazing to watch.)
- Red Wings (they don’t need any more Cups)
Alright, so basically: I’m giving away an NHL player t-shirt. Any team, any player*, whatever you want…
I planned on giving away one of my own, but then I realized it would be a lot easier to allow someone to pick whatever shirt they wanted in their size!
- *If you win, the shirt you choose…
Mark Howe - Legend. Class Act. Flyers Great.

If you can play, you can play.
So glad these two are playing on the same line in the ASG!

Stamkos knows that, one day, his Claude Giroux autographed stick will be worth a lot of money.

Completely missed this yesterday, but sounds fantastic! Looking forward to this series of videos on the science behind hockey skills.
Absolutely fantastic interview of Eric Lindros, from Justin Johnson at The Hockey Guys/ The Hockey Writers. He covers a wide range of topics & events over the course of Lindros’ career. It’s fascinating to hear his take on the Flyers of the 90’s, the playoff runs, and the injuries that plagued his career with some time and perspective.
I loved Lindros, and remember that fateful day, when the league decision came down on the big trade. I’ll never forget driving down I-95 on my way to DC for college orientation, gradually losing the radio signal of the announcement broadcast. We were just barely able to hear the final sentences, and shouted with joy when we learned that Lindros would officially be a Flyer.
That was the beginning of some amazing times as a Flyers fan. The Legion of Doom & the Crazy Eights brought so many exciting moments to the ice. I spent a lot of time on trains back and forth between DC & Philly just to see him play. I really hope he does play in the Alumni game before the Winter Classic. Because a Flyers alumni team without #88 just isn’t complete.
Supposed jerseys for the NHL Winter Classic, with more certain proof of validity.
I like them both, overall. One might say the Flyers one is a bit boring, but I like the simplicity. Since my last Winter Classic jersey was a Mike Richards, I’ll likely pick up a new one this year with Claude Giroux (or another player TBD) on it. The Rangers one is pretty cool too, but I’m not super keen on the numbers up front.
